The Film & Television Institute is the premier professional development centre for independent screen production & events in Western Australia.
It provides an alternative pathway to the film and television industry through education, exhibition, equipment and production resources and is supported by its membership, corporate partners, ScreenWest and the Australian Film Commission.
History
Arguably the oldest Screen Resource Organisation in Australia, FTI was incorporated in 1971 (originally as the Perth Institute of Film & Television) and is housed in the 19th century built Fremantle Boys' School. The Institute's premises contain a 121-seat cinema, video editing suites, digital labs, training rooms, large hall, studio space and office accommodation.
FTI also features an Animation Centre. The Centre is the focal point in WA for commercial linear and non-linear narrative animation training and production bringing together a diverse array of animation industry professionals, production companies, private and state government entities.
